A lively ballroom dance of Bohemian origin in duple meter greatly popular in the 19th century. Also a short, lyric piano composition. a Bohemian dance, became one of the most popular ball-room dances of the 19th century, it's title a possible reference to Poland. It is used by Smetana in his Czech opera the bartered bride and elsewhere and in William Walton's jeu d'esprit facade
